Places to Hang Out

Haus am Walde
Difficult to imagine at the time of writing (February), but this really is a fantastic place to hang out in summer and early autumn. Certainly one of Bremen’s nicest beer gardens, with a selection of mainstream brews on taps (but including Störtebeker). Very popular with students, uni staff and everyone at the end of the day – and what’s better than sitting under the lime and chestnut trees, sipping a non-alcoholic (yes, there are excellent non-alcoholic beers available as well) or alcoholic beer and chatting with friends and colleagues. The Haus am Walde is hardly a secret, though, so expect to share the table.
Yellow Bird Coffee
If you are taking your brew seriously (as you should), this is one of the best places in Bremen to have a coffee or two. Not exactly close to the university, but if you are based in Neustadt or happen to be in the neighbourhood, the yellow bird is definitely worth a visit.
KUKOON
KUKOON is an alternative cultural center organized by a collective and has a lot to offer: interesting events, concerts, but also culinary delights: lunch, coffee and cake, and evening meals. In between, you can relax and hang out with friends there. Open 12-X
Glücksküche
Very charming and welcoming coffee place in Viertel. It is only 2min walking from the river, so you can grab your coffee and enjoy the river’s breeze
Teestübchen im Schnoor
Cute little cafe and the perfect place to enjoy a tea in a cozy atmosphere; also amazing breakfast offer.

Cozy and unique bar that looks like your grandmas living room.
Schauburg Cafe
If you want to enjoy a delicious coffee surrounded by a film atmosphere and with a spectacular view on the busiest street of Viertel
Kulturzentrum Lagerhaus Bremen
Nice cozy bar to hang out in the evening.
Fehrfeld
This is one of our favourite bars. Small, cozy, with good beer and has a typical Bremen-feel. Get here for the Challenge Night Event!
Eisen
This is the place to later in the evening – or maybe even later. Very small, rugged bar for those who´d love a beer served by Sid Vicious.
Harbour Coffee
No doubt the best cinnamon roll (Zimtschnecke) in town, great coffee as well!
Coffee Corner
Nice coffee (and cake) place in the heart of the “Viertel” to enjoy a good coffee and watch street life through the panorama windows
Cafe Engel
Great place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, whine or coffee. Located right in the heart of the “Viertel”, this is good place to go, no matter the time of day.
Espresso House
Good iced coffee (which can be hard to find in Germany!), good cake, and a good place to chill.
CLUB27 im Bremer PresseClub
A gem of classic modernist interior design in the middle of the medieval Schnoor neighbourhood serving seriously good fairtrade coffee, organic lemonades and homemade baked goods. Come for the Eames Lounge Chairs, stay for the drinks (not their official motto). The place used to be a press club for informal chats between press and politics; these days it sees mainly literature events, small music gigs and public talks.
