Places to Eat
The Local Organizing Committee has put together recommendations for places in Bremen where you can enjoy a meal. Click on the name of the establishment to go to their website, when one is available, and click on the Google Map link to see its location on a map.
Isaak’s Garden
Lovely mediterranean meze-style restaurant – situated in Schwachhausen, not too far from the University. Sit outside, have a glass of their excellent wine selection and watch the world (and the trams pass by) while nibbling on some e.g. lovely chargrilled saganaki cheese. If the weather is the Bremen usual, they do have very cosy rooms downstairs. Easily one of my favourite eating spots.
Markthalle Acht
Essentially a quirky food court with food stalls from all over the world and great atmosphere. Live music Thurs-Sat. Smack bang in the centre of town. Personally, I particularly like the Korean, Ukrainian and Ghanaian stalls. They are open for lunch and dinner (until 8pm, Thurs-Sat until 10pm).
Onkel Ba’s Street Kitchen
Tiny Vietnamese street food shop – there are only a few seats inside, a couple more outside. But if you are prepared (and if the weather is cooperative) to sit outside or on the stairs, there is some lovely Vietnamese food in store for you, lots of fresh green herbs and great flavours. They also have a stall at Markthalle Acht.
Tampopo Sushi & Nikkei Kitchen
Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant. In particular the finger food and ceviche is worth a small detour, they also have a more than decent wine list.
Vengo die Gemüseküche
Vegan Restaurant that offers a wide variety of affordable meals.
Yalla Yalla Falafel
Best place in town to eat a wide range of original vegetarian rollos (Bremen’s own word for durum)!
Emma am See
Nice cafe/restaurant next to the Emmasee in the middle of the Bürgerpark, nice place to have a coffee after a walk through the Bürgerpark.
Café Concordia
Nice cafe and a good place to have a coffee and a vegan or non-vegan cake; breakfast for long sleepers until 1:30 pm on workdays and 4 pm on weekends.
Veganbar
Vegan fast food Restaurant in Findorff with the pretty original meals: vish and chips, vebab, vurst (vegan sausages).
Arabiano
A small but charming place with absolutely delicious Syrian food (rather cheap but quality), good tea and lovely owners.
Rockwurst
If you enjoy rock and blues music, sarcasm and German sausages (e.g., “Currywurst”), this is the place to go.
Kränholm
Fine restaurant in Bremen-Nord, only a few meters away from Knoop´s Parc and the river Lesum. If you enjoy a nice and quiet walk after or before lunch or dinner, you will enjoy Krähnholm and this part of Bremen-Nord.
Küche13
Fine restaurant in the “Viertel” with an open kitchen area and weekly changing, high quality menu. You will definitely enjoy this one!
Lilie
Cozy tarte flambee place located in the heart of Findorff. We used to drop by every other day during our time in Findorff and this is the place most locals visits regularly – either to have glass of wine or watch the famous TV crime show “Tatort”, or both.
Ratskeller
Famous restaurant in the cellar under the town hall; good range of wines.
Das Kleine Lokal
Fine, mostly local cuisine with a good range of wines; reduced number of seats so reserve a table.
Soulm8
Authentic Hong Kongese DimSum restaurant within a former Dominican monastery of St. Catherine, a charming and comfortable enviroment to enjoy delicious food.
Bangkok Original Thai Restaurant
True authentic Thai food in a family style small restaurant.
Zui-Yuan
If you see a huge fish tank in a Chinese restaurant, you know the food is authentic.
Mommie’s Corner
A wide range of delicious traditional west African dishes, halal, and delicious.
Pajaten Fusion Food
Peruvian-Japanese fusion cuisine, a bit less fancy (and pricey) compared to Tampopo, but just as delicious. Ceviches, tequenos and saltados (also vegan) come highly recommended – the adventurous might want to try Anticuchos Peruanos (skewers of veal heart), which are fantastic.
